Opportunities/Careers
The General Construction Contractor for the Brunswick Pipeline project is Louisbourg Pipelines, a division of Simard-Beaudry Construction Inc. Louisbourg will be responsible for the majority of construction work including right-of-way clearing, grading, excavating, welding, installing pipe, backfilling the trench, testing and right-of-way restoration, and will seek subcontractors to undertake aspects of that work. Construction on the project began in late 2007 and will continue for approximately one year. The Brunswick Pipeline system is scheduled to begin transporting natural gas in November 2008. Construction activities are planned to occur Monday through Saturday. Some specialized areas may require crews to work extra hours in order to accommodate site conditions. Louisbourg will maximize opportunities for local workers, businesses and First Nation organizations. Louisbourg will look first to Atlantic Canadian-based businesses to fill requirements for subcontractors, goods and services. Subcontracts will be awarded on the basis of fair price, availability of the product and best service. Trades people interested in working on the Brunswick Pipeline project should join or transfer their union membership into Saint John local. For further information on unions, click here.
